No product can buy a higher Motion Score. Ever.
Motion Score™ calculations are never influenced by commercial relationships, affiliate commission rates, brand partnerships, or advertiser relationships. The algorithm is seeded only by verified owner data and cross-referenced specifications. If a brand offers to pay for a higher rating, our answer is always no.
The 5 Trust Standards We Maintain
1. Score Independence
Our Motion Score formula is fixed and documented on our methodology page. The four components and their weights (Owner Satisfaction 35%, Spec Accuracy 25%, Long-Term Reliability 25%, Value 15%) cannot be adjusted by brand relationships. A product we earn zero affiliate revenue from scores the same way as one we earn significant commissions from.
2. Flat Commission Structure
We participate in the Amazon Associates Program. Amazon pays a commission rate based on product category — not product price within that category. We earn roughly the same percentage on a $50 air purifier as on a $400 one. We have no financial incentive to recommend more expensive products over better-value options.
3. We Publish "Don't Buy This" Verdicts
Every category features products we recommend avoiding. We also publish regret rates on every product page — what percentage of owners wish they hadn't bought it. Sites optimizing purely for affiliate conversion never publish negative verdicts at scale. We do, because we believe long-term trust converts better than short-term persuasion.
4. Manipulation Detection
We cross-reference Amazon ratings against Best Buy, Home Depot, and Target ratings for the same product. A dramatic discrepancy (4.7★ on Amazon vs. 3.1★ on Best Buy) is flagged publicly as a potential review seeding concern. We adjust our weighting accordingly and publish the discrepancy transparently on the product page.
5. Named Analysts, Real Expertise
Every product review is attributed to a named analyst with a published profile page listing their expertise and review portfolio. Our analysts don't hide behind "Editorial Team" anonymity — they stand behind their research. Meet our team →
